Prof. Fengqing Maggie Zhu receives Google Faculty Research Award

Prof. Fengqing Maggie Zhu is among the recipients of the 2018 Google Faculty Research Awards. These annual awards are structured as unrestricted gifts to recognize and support the research of world-class faculty members at top universities around the world.

Prof. Zhu's project is titled "Content Aware Encoding Optimization for Video Sharing Services." More information about the project can be found here.

Zhu is an alumna of Purdue ECE, having received her PhD in 2011. Her research interests include Image processing and analysis, video compression, computer vision and computational photography.

ECE Prof. Hong Z. Tan also received a 2018 Google Faculty Research Award. Several other ECE faculty have received the honor in the past, including Ed Delp (2017), Shreyas Sen (2016), T.N. Vijaykumar (2012 and 2013), Sanjay Rao (2013), and Y. Charlie Hu (2012).
