Professor D. Marshall Porterfield has been chosen as the new Division Director of NASA's Space Life and Physical Sciences Research and Applications Division.
Dr. Akhilesh Gaharwar has been selected to receive an annual Acta Student Award for his primary contribution to the manuscript, "Assessment of using Laponite cross-linked poly(ethylene oxide) for controlled cell adhesion and mineralization," Acta Biomaterialia 7 (2011) 568-577, written while he was a graduate student with Prof. Gudrun Schmidt at Purdue.
Peter Carlsgaard, a Purdue graduate of the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering, received a scholarship to attend the World Congress on Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering in Beijing, China in May.
