Joe Bourland Graduate Student Travel Award Recipients Selected

Joe Bourland
Dr. Joe Bourland
Four Weldon School students have been selected as this year's recipients of the Joe Bourland Graduate Student Travel Award.

Dr. Bourland established this award to provide support on a competitive basis to graduate students in need of funds to support their travel to a conference as part of their graduate studies.  Students benefit tremendously from attending conferences and presenting their work to peers and experts in their field.  Conferences also present an ideal networking opportunity for students to explore research collaborations, potential employment and broaden their knowledge base. This year's recipients include:

Whitney Bullock, who recently attended the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research Annual Conference in Minneapolis, MN, October 12-15, 2012.

Max Hammond, who just returned from the Biomedical Engineering Society Annual Meeting, held in Atlanta, GA, October 24-27, 2012.

Rajtarun Madangopal, who is currently attending  IEEE Sensors 2012 in Taipei, Taiwan, October 28-31, 2012.

Victoria Poole, who attended the Society for Neuroscience meeting in New Orleans, LA, October 13-17, 2012.

Dr. Joe Bourland was one of the "Fab 4" to come to Purdue from Baylor University in 1974 (along with Dr. Les Geddes, Dr. Willis Tacker, and Dr. Charles Babbs) to form the Hillenbrand Biomedical Engineering Research Center that eventually became the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering.
