A three-member team consisting of James T. Jones, Engineering Resources Manager for the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering; Kirk S. Foster, Senior Research Engineer for the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering; and Jessica E. Huber, Associate Professor in the Department of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences was selected for this year's College of Engineering Team Excellence Award. Their citation reads: "For outstanding ability to work as a team to integrate research and translation to produce a device that can improve the life of individuals affected by Parkinson’s disease." The team was nominated by John C. Hertig.

Purdue alumnus Norman Weldon, of Evergreen, Colo. and Amelia Island, Fla., is the recipient of the 2012 Phoenix Lifetime Achievement Award. Weldon was honored Oct. 14th during the annual Medical Device and Diagnostic Conference for Chief Executive Officers in Laguna Beach, Calif.

Technology that Jim Jones and Kirk Foster, both from the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering, developed with Jessica Huber, associate professor of speech, language and hearing sciences, is featured on Purdue's "Difference Makers" webpage.

The Purdue student chapter of Alpha Eta Mu Beta (AEMB), the national honor society for biomedical engineering, added three awards to its coffers recently at the AEMB banquet held at the 2012 Biomedical Engineering Society annual meeting.

Four Weldon School students have been selected as this year's recipients of the Joe Bourland Graduate Student Travel Award.

Whitney Bullock was awarded a President's Poster Competition Award at the 2012 American Society for Bone and Mineral Research Annual Meeting held in Minneapolis, MN, October 12-15, 2012.

Alex Kokini, a junior in the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering, has been selected as the undergraduate representative to the Engineering Advisory Council. The Council, formed in 1972, is a group of distinguished alumni and friends of the Schools of Engineering who meet twice-yearly with faculty, staff, and students. As industry, academic and government leaders, EAC members offer external counsel, furthering Purdue engineering in its mission of learning, discovery, and engagement.

Brad Duerstock, an Associate Professor of Engineering Practice in the Weldon School was recently featured in "Findings."

The Purdue student chapter of the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) received the 2012 Biomedical Engineering Society Outstanding Outreach Award.

At the recent International Mass Spectrometry Conference, Professor Zheng Ouyang was awarded the Curt Brunnee Award "for outstanding contributions to the development of instrumentation for mass spectrometry by a person under the age of 45." It is given by the International Mass Spectrometry Society to one researcher every 3 years.
