Weldon School's Senior Scholarship Fund fuels success

Students and alumni of the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering are known for their close ties to the school, supporting each other and giving back to ensure the success of future generations. A prime example of this community spirit is the senior scholarship fund, which was initiated by the class of 2007, the inaugural graduating class. The endowment is now providing ongoing opportunities for outstanding undergraduates.

These high-caliber students are drawn to the Weldon School’s internationally known faculty, research strength, and state-of-the-art laboratories as they prepare for careers aimed at solving global health problems.

Purdue team receives $10 million SPARC grant

Purdue University is leading a $10 million study to better understand the stomach’s neural circuitry and whether bioelectronics medicine can aid conditions such as diabetes or obesity. The grant is from the National Institutes of Health’s SPARC - Stimulating Peripheral Activity to Relieve Conditions - program. SPARC research projects focus on the neural pathways to various organs including the spleen, heart, lung and pancreas to develop and evaluate minimally invasive neuromodulation therapies.
