Student Organizations

There are several environmentally or engineering-related student organizations on campus which might be of interest for EEE students.

  • Society of Environmental and Ecological Engineers: SEEE serves to provide a link between students, faculty, administrators and alumni in efforts to increase awareness and growth of this organization.  SEEE will form social and professional gatherings where SEEE participants will be able to hear speakers, learn of job opportunities, practice volunteer work in the community, as well as have interactions with other related student groups.  SEEE will also provide an easy and efficient way to form study groups for those in common classes and a place for those with common interests in environmental and ecological studies, to unite and share ideas to better the world.

  • Boiler Green Initiative: The Boiler Green Initiative is a multi-disciplinary, campus-wide student organization that focuses on the evaluation and continued enhancement of the sustainability of Purdue University and its surrounding communities.

  • Purdue Sustainability Council: The council seeks to promote a culture of sustainability at Purdue and facilitate communication between students, faculty, and staff surrounding sustainability initiatives.

  • Purdue Engineers Without Borders: Engineers Without Borders is a non-profit humanitarian organization established to partner with developing communities worldwide in order to improve their quality of life.

  • Engineers for a Sustainable World: ESW-Purdue is a Purdue University Student Organization and acts as the Purdue chapter of the national Engineers for a Sustainable World organization. The Purdue chapter was founded in the Summer of 2008. Our mission is “to engage engineers in reducing poverty by improving environmental, social, and economic sustainability worldwide.

  • Purdue Solar Racing: Purdue Solar Racing is a student organization committed to two philosophies: Building and racing a competitive solar powered vehicle and educating the public about the possibilities of renewable energy. Through teamwork and innovation each team member will gain knowledge in every aspect of the vehicle while helping the world take a step in the right direction for meeting our future energy needs.

  • Environmental Sciences Club: The Environmental Science Club’s mission is to have motivated environmentally-friendly individuals share and collaborate their ideas for the purposes of promoting environmental awareness and educating the Purdue campus and community.

  • Purdue Student Engineering Foundation: The Purdue Student Engineering Foundation is an organization dedicated to promoting engineering awareness amongst youth, prospective students, Purdue Alumni, first-year Purdue students, and the community. PSEF is an extraordinarily dedicated and enthusiastic group. Through a variety of unique programs, PSEF members work to promote education and careers in engineering, as well as the advancement of engineering in today’s society.

  • Purdue Agricultural Council: The Purdue Agricultural Council is a student organization ​​ran my approximately 22 undergraduates in various College of Agriculture majors and with a variety of backgrounds and experiences. The members serve two year terms, the officers being second year members. The members work as a cohesive unit toward one focus goal, promoting unity throughout the college.

  • Purdue Heifer International Chapter: The mission of the Purdue Heifer International Chapter is to work with communities local and globally to end hunger, poverty and to care for the earth through education, volunteer work and fundraising.

  • Electric Vehicle Club: The purpose of Purdue Electric Vehicle Club is to encourage the development, knowledge-base and enthusiasm towards electric vehicles by students and the community by hosting electric vehicle events, cruises and aiding it’s members in converting their own vehicles to electric.

  • Purdue Engineering Student Council: The Purdue Engineering Student Council was founded in 1975 and reorganized under its present constitution in 1980. With it’s mission statement of “serving students, serving faculty, serving industry” PESC has built upon its early foundations to become one of the most active organizations on campus. Its membership includes the most motivated and enthusiastic leaders at Purdue.

  • TEDxPurdueU: TEDxPurdueU strives to nurture a culture of innovation by sharing state of the art ideas developed by Purdue students, faculty, and alumni with the global TED community. The theme of TEDxPurdueU 2013 is “Past, Present, Progress” with each speaker providing a unique conceptual approach. Part of the beauty of TED is that it brings together speakers from at the top of many diverse fields and schools of thought — history, science, technology, and human relations are just a few — and this environment of collaborative, interdisciplinary learning is precisely what TEDx PurdueU aims to present.

  • U.S. Green Building Council at Purdue: USGBC Student Group is a group of students dedicated to promoting environmentally sustainable building practices across the Purdue University community.

  • ASME Purdue Chapter: ASME is a not-for-profit professional organization that promotes the art, science and practice of mechanical and multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences throughout the world.

  • ASABE Purdue Chapter: ASABE’s mission is to prepare members for their future careers in the agriculture, food processing, and environmental fields by encouraging team work in a variety of activities and to promote the school of Agricultural and Biological Engineering through participation in local and national events.

  • ASCE Purdue Chapter: The Purdue Chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers is established for the expressed purpose of providing Purdue Civil Engineering students with a valuable network of peers and mentors committed to developing leadership, advocating learning outside the classroom, serving the community, and promoting the profession as a whole.

  • AIChE Purdue Chapter: Members have the opportunity to access information about chemical engineering processes and methods, connect with global networks and colleagues, and participate in a variety of conferences and programs that will develop individuals professionally and help enrich the world we live in.

  • IEEE Purdue Chapter: Purdue’s IEEE student organization is focused on both social and technical aspects. Some committees include extensive technical projects which give an excellent opportunity to apply engineering theory, as well as expose oneself to situations which are normally not encountered in traditional courses. Other committees foster connections with the leading corporations in engineering fields, as well as organize social events.

  • ANS Purdue Chapter: The Purdue American Nuclear Society (ANS) student branch at Purdue University is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to serve the students of Purdue University and support our School of Nuclear Engineering.
