More than $100-million in funding, to be distributed among SCALE’s 35 partner universities, will help SCALE expand efforts to meet workforce needs in the microelectronics design and manufacturing chain through unique courses, mentoring, internship matching and targeted research projects for college students in several microelectronics specialty areas.

Zubin Jacob, the Elmore Professor in the Elmore Family School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), is only the third Purdue faculty member to be named a fellow and the sole 2026 Purdue recipient.

Davis’s project, titled “PTM-SEER: Software Engineering Foundations for Re-Using Pre-Trained Neural Models,” focuses on a growing challenge in modern computing: how engineers can safely, effectively, and efficiently reuse artificial intelligence models that have already been trained.

The annual ECE Undergraduate Excellence Awards celebrate students who serve as undergraduate teaching assistants, contribute to research, lead and volunteer across the school, and complete innovative design projects that apply classroom learning to real-world challenges. Mohammad Samin Nur Chowdhury, a doctoral student in Purdue University’s Elmore Family School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, has received the 2026 Outstanding Student Research Prize from the Neutron Scattering Society of America (NSSA), a national organization that supports and advances neutron scattering research in the United States.
