Boilermaker Circuit, one of the group career fairs that ECE’s Corporate Partners Program organizes specifically for ECE students, was held on September 17 in West Lafayette and September 18 in Indianapolis. The event drew representatives from 23 Corporate Partner companies, who engaged with about 600 students throughout the day about internships, co-op, and full-time positions.

Purdue University researchers have demonstrated a new way to build computer chips vertically, stacking multiple layers of transistors, logic and memory on a full-size 200-millimeter silicon wafer. The approach could help future chips pack more computing power into less space while reducing the energy needed to move data.

Purdue Engineering is fueled by “firsts,” and on Sept. 3, the Purdue AI Racing (PAIR) team contributed a milestone achievement to that long list. PAIR set a new track record and won first place in the time trials with a 1:27.731 lap, becoming the first autonomous car ever to beat 1:28 at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, California.

Harshit Naman, a doctoral student in Purdue University's Elmore Family School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, has won an Outstanding Student Paper Award at the 2026 IEEE Custom Integrated Circuits Conference for a chip that rethinks how data travels through the brain.

For the spring 2026 semester, instructors whose evaluation scores ranked at or above the 75th percentile were recognized in four course-size categories: small, medium, large and very large. The recognition highlights Purdue Engineering educators who earned particularly strong marks from their students.

Through the Cornell AI for Sustainability Initiative (AI4S), Dan Jiao will collaborate with Cornell researchers on AI for Sustainable Semiconductors, exploring how artificial intelligence can contribute to more sustainable technologies and approaches in semiconductor research.
