The award was presented for the paper entitled "Design and Implementation of an Intrinsically-Switched 22-43 GHz Tunable Bandstop Filter". The co-authors of the paper are Michael Sinanis and Professor Dimitrios Peroulis.

Ahmad (Alex) Gheith, Richard (RJ) Marcus, and Benjamin Vondersaar were honored for their dedication to Purdue students and their outstanding teaching contributions.

Google, IBM, Intel and Microsoft have put resources into research teams striving to discover a path to quantum computing. At Microsoft, the quantum computing research effort is spearheaded by Microsoft Station Q.

The Magoon Awards are given to outstanding teaching assistants in memory of Estus H. and Vashti L. Magoon. The eight recipients are: Shaobo Fang, Jose D. Esquitin Hinzpeter, I-Fan Lin, Wonil Chung, Debasmit Das, Vipul Vishnu Bhat, Elizabeth Grubbs, and Hung-Yi Lo.

Professor Manfra is now the Bill and Dee O'Brien Professor of Physics and Astronomy. He also holds appointments in ECE and Materials Engineering.

Two ECE faculty were promoted this year. Alexandra Boltasseva was promoted to Full Professor, while Yong Chen, who is also in Physics and Astronomy, was also promoted to Full Professor. The promotions are effective with the 2016-2017 academic year.

This award is only given to one paper each year. The paper, titled "Millimeter Wave Beamforming for Wireless Backhaul and Access in Small Cell Networks", was written with recent PhD students Sooyoung Hur and Taejoon Kim.

The A.A. Potter award honors faculty members for outstanding teaching performance in all phases of the College of Engineering's undergraduate instruction on the West Lafayette campus.

The CoE Faculty Award of Excellence in mentoring recognizes excellence by faculty in the College of Engineering in the mentoring of graduate students, post doctorate staff or junior faculty.
