Purdue graduates developing user-friendly, cost-effective retail analytics software

Two recent Purdue graduates are developing a user-friendly, cost-effective camera and software system designed for brick and mortar retail operations. The system could allow retailers to understand more about their customers, formulate better marketing strategies for their stores, and increase sales performance.

Three ECE Professors elevated to IEEE Fellows

Xiaojun Lin, Dimitrios Peroulis, and Hong Tan have been elevated, effected January 2017. The IEEE Grade of Fellow is conferred by the IEEE Board of Directors upon a person with an outstanding record of accomplishments in any of the IEEE fields of interest. The total number selected in any one year cannot exceed one-tenth of one- percent of the total voting membership. IEEE Fellow is the highest grade of membership and is recognized by the technical community as a prestigious honor and an important career achievement.

Purdue-based startup provides software to protect IoT devices from colluding in DDoS attacks

SensorHound Inc., a Purdue-based startup co-founded by ECE alums, develops software products that could increase the reliability and security of the embedded software that drives IoT devices and thus protect them from being used in attacks, known as DDoS. The company also provides products and services that reduce developmental and operational costs for large networked systems of internet-connected devices.

Purdue team receives $10 million SPARC grant

The team, which includes ECE Professors Pedro Irazoqui and Zhongming Liu, is researching the stomach's neural circuitry and whether bioelectronics medicine can aid conditions such as diabetes or obesity.

NIH research project will upgrade 'metagenomics' system

Purdue University is working with Argonne National Laboratory to supercharge a "metagenomics data" system that could bring innovations in personalized medicine, better management of oil spills and other clinical and ecological applications.
