The College of Engineering recognizes the graduate student advisors who do an outstanding job of mentoring their MS and PhD students.

Faculty members who serve as graduate student advisors do an outstanding job of mentoring their MS and Ph.D. students.  The College of Engineering recognizes those advisors, shares their best practices with all of our faculty members, and provides our Ph.D. students who may become faculty members with an opportunity to learn from them.  To this end, the School of Engineering along with ECEGSA select and recognize one Outstanding Mentor of Engineering Graduate Students each year.

The following paragraph, provided by students, praises Professor Chan:

Dr. Stanley Chan is friendly, responsible and prioritizes his time in guiding each student on his research and career development.  Besides his busy schedules, he makes himself available to his students and is focused towards their weekly progress. He replies to emails instantaneously and never forgets or delays filling out administrative forms or writing recommendation letters on behalf of the student.

The recognition was at the 2016 OECE Awards dinner on October 28th in the Shively Media Center.
