Aaron Ault, Senior Research Engineer (ECE), and Sam Noel, graduate student in agricultural and biological engineering, were part of the Open Ag Technology and Systems (OATS) group. The challenge was to use data from five different companies in swine production to improve some aspect of how pork is raised or distributed.

He won for his work on "The Potential of Bifacial Photovoltaics: A Global Perspective" and "Real-time Monitoring of Photovoltaic Reliability Only Using Maximum Power Point – the Suns-Vmp Method". The PVSC received around 1000 abstract submissions this year. Xingshu Sun is a Ph.D. candidate advised by Professors Muhammad A. Alam and Mark Lundstrom.

The International Microwave Symposium is the flagship conference of the Microwave Theory and Techniques Society and is attended by more than 9,000 people every year. Mr. Wu is a PhD student in Professor Dimitrios Peroulis' research team.

The Purdue IEEE ROV (Remotely Operated underwater Vehicle) team competed last weekend at the Marine Advanced Technology Education (MATE) Center International ROV Competition in Long Beach, California. The competition challenged students to create a vehicle that could complete underwater missions and successfully defend their design decisions.

They won the Best Insertion Loss Award. The IMS is the flagship conference of the Microwave Theory and Techniques Society and is attended by more than 9,000 people every year. Drs. Allen and Abu Khater work on Professor Dimitrios Peroulis' research team.

Professor Lundstrom received the award "for creating a global online community for graduate education in nanotechnology as well as teaching, inspiring, and mentoring graduate students". The award was created in 1990 and honors teachers of electrical and electronics engineering and the related disciplines.

At its meeting on Friday, June 16, the Purdue Board of Trustees approved the appointment of Mung Chiang as the John A. Edwardson Dean of Engineering and the Roscoe H. George Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
