Students in Purdue University’s Elmore Family School of Electrical and Computer Engineering had the chance to speak with representatives from 24 companies at the Boilermaker Circuit Career Fair last week. The companies are part of ECE’s Corporate Partners Program (CPP). The event was organized by CPP, in cooperation with the Undergraduate and Graduate Offices and students representing the ECE Ambassadors.
An estimated 800 students participated in the Boilermaker Circuit, which was held from 10am-5pm in the Bill & Shirely Rice Design Studio and the Max W Brown Atrium in MSEE. Partner company representatives spoke with students about internship, co-op, and full-time opportunities. Representatives were enthusiastic about the students’ skills and preparation. They said engaging with the students was productive due to the depth and the breadth of talent within ECE’s large student body. Among the students, a common sentiment was that they benefited from the ECE-focused event, as there was a more direct match between their skills and the opportunities available.
The event started off with a welcome address by Saurabh Bagchi, Director of the ECE Corporate Partners Program and Professor of ECE.
“We have created events for groups of our Partners to interact with our students like today’s Boilermaker Circuit, plus we host individual Partner-focused events,” said Bagchi. “From the viewpoint of students, an exclusive event like this open only to our students adds to the differentiator of Purdue’s ECE.”

Milind Kulkarni, Michael and Katherine Birck Head and Professor of ECE, also addressed the audience in the morning.
“Boilermaker Circuit is such a phenomenal event. It’s a great way for our Corporate Partners to target the largest pool of ECE talent in the country, right here at Purdue,” Kulkarni said. “Seeing the energy in the room as our students engage deeply with so many fantastic companies really demonstrates the value of a recruiting opportunity like this.”
Micah Morikuni is the head of the ECE Student Ambassadors and participated in Boilermaker Circuit.
“The Circuit allows the students to engage with Corporate Partners in an intimate setting for great discussions just relating to ECE,” said Morikuni. “It is also very impressive, seeing the magnitude of companies that want to recruit us."
The event concluded with a dinner and trivia quiz in the Design Studio for the Corporate Partners, ECE Staff, and ECE Ambassadors. Matthew Potrawski, Senior Manager of the Corporate Partners Program, Loretta McKinniss, Operations Manager, and Mary Ann Satterfield, Lead Administrative Assistant, were the force behind the successful execution of the event.
The Boilermaker Circuit is held twice a year, in the Fall and Spring semesters, and is exclusively for Purdue ECE students. More photos can be found here.
