Lynn Hegewald wins inaugural ECE Staff Award of Excellence

Lynn Hegewald, Senior Master's Program Manager for the Elmore Family School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University, is the recipient of the inaugural ECE Staff Award of Excellence.

Lynn Hegewald, Senior Master's Program Manager for the Elmore Family School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University, is the recipient of the inaugural ECE Staff Award of Excellence. The award was established is to recognize, encourage, and promote exceptional staff contributions to the School.

Gerhard Klimeck, Elmore Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, was one of Hegewald’s nominators. He said among other things, Hegewald was essential in the original deployment of ECE 606 into BrightSpace and edX and designed a new approach to take attendance and speaker feedback in ECE 694.

“Ms. Hegewald demonstrated to be a strong team player and a very reliable and prompt contributor and designer,” said Klimeck.  ‘I believe Ms. Hegewald’s contributions made my work significantly easier and her contributions went far beyond my expectations.”

Matt Golden, Graduate Programs Director, also nominated Hegewald. He said some of the highlights of her contributions were developing a new student orientation for online students, assisting faculty with the development of online courses, leading recruiting seminars, and leading an initiative to develop website content for the Online MS program and the Project-Track Master’s program.

“Lynn is a joy to work with,” said Golden. “She takes initiative, is helpful, works as a great teammate, and is a tremendous asset to ECE.”

Nominees were evaluated based on the merits and strengths of the following contributions:

  1. Consistent dedication, cooperation, and a demonstration of positive behaviors.
  2. Outstanding achievement or contribution through creative solutions; demonstrate significant, effective and efficient operations.
  3. Sustained excellence in overall job performance (relative to skills, initiative, and position).
  4. Learning new skills and taking on new responsibility.
  5. Contributing to the culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
