Prof. Zhihong Chen elevated to IEEE Fellow

Zhihong Chen, professor of electrical and computer engineering with Purdue University’s Elmore Family School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, has been elevated to Fellow status with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

Zhihong Chen, professor of electrical and computer engineering with Purdue University’s Elmore Family School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, has been elevated to Fellow status with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). This is the highest grade of membership the institute confers upon its members.

IEEE Fellow is a distinction reserved for select individuals whose extraordinary accomplishments have contributed importantly to the advancement or application of engineering, science, and technology, bringing the realization of significant value to society. Chen is being recognized for contributions to the understanding and applications of low-dimensional nanomaterials.

The IEEE includes more than 400,000 members from nearly 160 countries. The total number of fellows selected in a year cannot exceed one-tenth of one-percent of the IEEE’s voting membership. The Class of 2022 Fellows includes nearly three hundred members.
