The Marconi Society is a foundation created in honor of Nobel Prize winner Guglielmo Marconi and is dedicated to supporting scientific achievements in communications and the internet that significantly benefit mankind. They recently spotlighted ECE Alum Joseph M. Lukens and his work in security and quantum communications at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. 

Each year the Marconi Society recognizes a small number of young scholars whose work is highly innovative and ground-breaking. Last year they recognized Dr. Lukens, who received his PhD in Electrical Engineering in 2015, with the Paul Baran Young Scholar Award.
