Purdue builds Big Ten's Biggest Computer

"Coates", named after Ben Coates, former head of ECE, will be built from more than 10,000 computer cores and is expected to rank in the top 50 supercomputers worldwide.

Professor Jan Allebach and former graduate student Buyue Zhang's article ranked among the top 100 monthly downloads from IEEE Explore

The article "Adaptive Bilateral Filter for Sharpness Enhancement and Noise Removal," by Buyue Zhang and Jan Allebach that appeared in the May 2008 issue of the IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, was one of four journal papers published by the IEEE Signal Processing Society (excluding IEEE Signal Processing Magazine articles) that ranked among the top 100 monthly downloads of all content from IEEE Xplore for at least two months during the six month period from April 2008 to September 2008.

ECE Graduate Student Yuri Kubo wins Astronaut Foundation Scholarship

Yuri Kubo, a graduate student in the School of Electrical & Computer Engineering, is the 2009-10 academic year winner of a $10,000 Astronaut Foundation Scholarship. Yuri was one of two students nominated from Purdue for prestigious award, and the only winner from Purdue.
