Their paper titled "3-6 GHz Tunable Bandpass Filter using Heavily Loaded Evanescent-mode Cavity Resonators and Piezoelectric Actuators" won Best Paper at the 41st International Symposium on Microelectronics.

Yanqing Wu is a student of Professor Peide (Peter) Ye working in the area of nanoelectronics. Raseong Kim is a student of Professor Mark Lundstrom working on thermoelectric effects in semiconductor devices. The award recognizes the student as well as the quality of the institution.

Professors Mithuna Thottethodi and T.N. Vijaykumar, along with doctoral student Ahmed Amin, received $30,000 in prize money and $5,000 worth of legal services for their business plan to investigate and apply lab-on-a-chip technology in order to manipulate fluids at microscopic scales.
