Applications Engineer – DRAM/Mobile DRAM

We are looking for an Applications Engineer to join our team in San Jose, CA. In this role, you will be responsible for performing joint validation testing, system & product debug testing and analysis, lab management and exhibition support. You will support design in efforts by performing joint validation testing of Samsung products in customer platforms. This includes performing basic Go/No-Go tests, power-up initialization analysis, shmoo/margin characterization tests signal quality/integrity measurements, timing analysis/validation etc. As needed, this can include system setup including OS, driver & network installation. You will be working with high performance logic analyzer, oscilloscope & related test equipment.
You will manage & maintain lab h/w, s/w & expendables. This includes proper inventory management & control, assuring test hardware is properly calibrated, replacing defective or broken equipment.
You must also assure the lab is clean, safe and secured. You will also purchase customer systems for use in the lab, both locally & HQ/Korea. Assure that our lab & that in HQ/Korea have the designated customer platforms for validation, testing, failure analysis, etc. Coordinate the shipping of customer systems to HQ/Korea.
You will also set up demo systems for technical exhibition(s) such as CES. During the exhibition, you will keep the demo system running without problems. Conduct booth duty by meeting customers & answering questions regarding Samsung products operating in the demo system.
You will also visit the customer lab & evaluate Samsung product in system exhibiting aberrant behavior. Investigate root cause of problems/issues considering multiple variables. Document & understand customer implementation in an attempt to help replicate at HQ/Korea where corrective actions can be determined as appropriate. You will also proof-read technical reports for grammar, coordinating various surveys and performing various technical training to AHQ engineering.
We require a BSEE/BSCS & 1-5 years semiconductor experience (memory preferred) coupled with strong presentation & PowerPoint skills, strong verbal & written communication, self-starter, proactive, dedicated and a team player.
You must be able to handle an oscilloscope for signal integrity measurement, logic analyzer for timing analysis & the ability to use various trigger options & measurement tools. Basic soldering skills are required. You must be able to assemble a PC with basic components like mother board, GFX card, CPU, HDD and DRAM module.
You must be proficient using Microsoft Windows, MS Office & Customer Management Systems. You must be able to install various OS, driver & set up PC network. Ability to perform firmware updates, system & product levels. You should have the ability to use Algebra, calculus & basic statistics. You should have the ability to read & comprehend customer documents, roadmaps, technical specs, etc. Moderate to high level of travel required (estimate 30% both international & domestic) up to 1-2 times per month.
