Internships

Internships are a great way to gain real-world experience while building on the skills and knowledge that students receive in the classroom. Internships also offer work experience that allows students to be more competitive employment candidates upon degree completion.

ECE 47000 Curricular Practical Training

ECE 47000 is the internship course for ECE students. International students must register for ECE 47000 while engaged in their internship regardless of the term. US citizens or permanent residents needing to maintain full-time status during the fall and spring semesters will need to register for ECE 47000. For the summer semester, US citizens and permanent residents may choose to register for the course although it is typically not required. Please discuss with your ECE advisor when it is beneficial to register for the internship course if it is not already required. Students who are on academic probation are not permitted to enroll in ECE 47000.

Please see the ECE 47000 course description for additional information and the documentation necessary to apply for enrollment in the course. Students planning to enroll in the course should make an appointment in the ECE Undergraduate Advising Office once they have obtained the necessary documentation.

All students enrolled in ECE 47000 must submit a report to the ECE Undergraduate Advising Office no later than the Friday of the first week of classes after the work assignment. Internship report requirements can be found here.
