Viruses like Ebola and SARS-CoV-2 spread and cause disease through the combined action of multiple viral proteins working together. Biomedical engineers like Elsje Pienaar are searching to limit viral reproduction in patients through a holistic view of how these proteins work together.

Frances Ashcroft, DBE, FRS, FMedSci, Professor, Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics at Oxford University will present a virtual seminar on Wednesday, February 9 at 2:00 p.m. entitled "Metabolic regulation of insulin secretion in health and disease."

Mehdi Javanmard, Associate Professor of Electrical & Computer Engineering at Rutgers University, will present a seminar on Wednesday, February 9 from 9:30-10:20 a.m. in MJIS 1001 and via Zoom entitled "Electro-Fluidics for Health and Environmental Monitoring."

Dr. Colleen Maguire Jackson, PhD, HSPP, Psychologist and Lead Therapist, will present a special seminar entitled "Stress Management for the New Normal."

Moshe Levi, MD, Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular and Cellular Biology and Dean for Research at Georgetown University will present the IU Center for Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases Research Seminar on Monday, January 31st, from 12:00-1:00 p.m.

The Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering will host a Prospective BME Faculty Seminar on Monday, January 31, from 9:30-10:20am in MJIS 2001 or via Zoom. Jesse Jokerst, Professor of NanoEngineering at the University of California - San Diego will present "Basic Research and Translational Efforts for (Photo)acoustic Ultrasound in Medicine."
