Professor Ann Rundell has been selected to receive a prestigious NSF CAREER Award for her work on advancing model predictive control of cell differentiation.

A late-night, special session of the Indiana State Legislature successfully passed the final version of the state budget on June 30th, just hours before the July 1 deadline. Included in the budget was funding at a level of $10 million per year for the Indiana Innovation Alliance.

A recent paper by Purdue BME researchers Youngnam Cho, Riyi Shi, Albena Ivanisevic and Richard Borgens has been selected as the cover feature article for the prestigious journal, Nanotechnology.

Jianming Li, a graduate student in biomedical engineering, has just returned to campus following a three-week visit to China. His visit was sponsored by the National Science Foundation.

Umut Atakan Gurkan was selected as this year's recipient of the Geddes-Laufman-Greatbatch Award, presented by the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering at Purdue.

Jean Chmielewski, Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Alice Watson Kramer Distinguished Professor of Chemistry, was elected a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).

The Purdue College of Science "Insights" magazine recently showcased research in progress by Ji-Xin Cheng, an assistant professor in the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering and Department of Chemistry.

Kinam Park, Showalter Distinguished Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering, has received the 2009 Faculty Research Award from the Purdue University Chapter of Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Society. The university-wide award recognizes a faculty member for outstanding research accomplishments. Please join us in congratulating Professor Park on this honor.

George Wodicka, head of the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering, has received the College of Engineering's Leadership award. He was chosen not only for his leadership of the School, but also for his work in the formation of the Bindley Bioscience Center, the Medical Scientist Training Program, and the Biomedship biomedical entrepreneurship and innovation program.
