Purdue College of Engineering and Graduate School awards were recently announced. Weldon graduate students continue to shine and receive recognition for their contributions in research and the classroom. Todd Rickett received a Bilsland Dissertation Fellowship. Emily Gullotti and Matthew Ward each received a Magoon Graduate Teaching Award. Art Chlebowski received the Magoon Graduate Teaching Award and the CETA Teaching Award for 2010.

GlucaGo needs your vote! Purdue students, Rush Bartlett, Peter Greco, and Art Chlebowski are at it again. GlucaGo is a semi-finalist in the Dell Social Innovation competition. There is an online voting process for the semi-final round.

Jenna Sullivan, a 2009 graduate of the Weldon School MS program, was selected as the Purdue University College of Engineering's nominee for the 2010 Midwestern Association of Graduate Schools (MAGS) Distinguished MS Thesis Award. The title of her thesis was "Small Animal PET for the Detection of Alcohol- or Cocaine-Induced Striatal Dopamine Release."

Glytrix, a student-led company that has developed a platform technology for tissue healing and regeneration that also minimizes scarring, took top honors in the Gold Division of the 23rd annual Burton D. Morgan Business Plan Competition.

Jon Boley, a BME graduate student, has been selected to receive an individual NIH Fellowship to support his PhD research.

Zheng Ouyang and collaborators' work on direct analysis of whole blood is featured as "Jumping off the Page" on the inside cover of Angewandte Chemie International Edition.

This Fall, Maia Donahue was awarded an Honorable Mention Graduate Student Research Award at the 2009 Biomedical Engineering Society Annual Meeting held in Pittsburgh.

Matias Zanartu received the Best Student Paper Award in Speech Communication at the Acoustical Society of America Meeting in Portland for the poster entitled "An impedance-based inverse filtering scheme with glottal coupling."

Professors Richard Borgens, Riyi Shi and Andrew Blight (former Purdue professor) received notification that their drug, Ampyra, has received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for improving motor function in patients with multiple sclerosis.
