INDIANA CTSI IMPACT

Since its inception, the focus of the Indiana CTSI has been to develop programs that strengthen our collective ability to put forward competitive applications to procure external grants. The various programs create an infrastructure designed to support students, postdoctoral investigators and faculty in their pursuit of translational research, with a particular emplasis on including fostering collaborations among the partner institutions, providing pre-application grant support, and providing community access from basic research to interventions and clinical trials.

Overall, the Indiana CTSI has secured more than $88 million in National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding to improve health in Indiana through research since 2008. The institute has built research infrastructure, attracted top scientific talent to the state and worked to identify and improve our community’s greatest health challenges. In the past 10 years, the Indiana CTSI has awarded nearly $14 million in pilot funding to initiate important basic, clinical and translational research projects. The CTSI awardees have leveraged that seed funding to secure more than $300 million in additional grant funding to bring their research ideas to fruition. These projects bolder a dynamic and growing research community in Indiana and enhance the well-being of its residents.
