Dr. Rachel Surowiec
Areas of Research
We apply cutting-edge quantitative imaging and spectral technologies to uncover tissue-level mechanisms in musculoskeletal (MSK) biology
Projects
Evaluating the role of bone water in skeletal health. We are interested in bone water as a viable therapeutic target to improve bone quality and as a viable biomarker of bone disease (translational mouse/rat and in vitro studies)
Ultra short echo time (UTE) magnetic resonance imaging biomarker development for MSK tissue. We are developing a comprehensive suite of bone-based biomarkers that can be used (safely, no radiation) in longitudinal studies to advance our understanding of skeletal disease. (translational mouse/rat and human ex vivo studies)
Recruitment Needs
We are looking for 1-2 creative and highly motivated MS/PhD students. Interest/skills in MATLAB and those interested in image processing and conducting translational (mouse/rat) studies please contact us for more information!
