Effects of noise-exposure and early aging on the neural mechanisms underlying auditory perception complex environments
We study the biological computations and neural circuits that underlie auditory perception. In particular, we are interested in how we process sounds and analyze acoustic scenes in complex everyday environments. Complex scenes with multiple sound sources such as crowded restaurants and busy streets present unique challenges for both biological and machine audition. Our approach is multidisciplinary and integrates behavioral experiments on perception, computational modeling of how our ears and brains process sounds, and an array of non-invasive physiological measurement tools such as human neuroimaging and electrophysiology
Recruitment Needs:
- Looking for one or two highly motivated Ph.D. student who are interested in the neuroscience of audition, skilled in quantitative analytical methods, and willing to work with human subjects
