John Walsh has served as Vice President of Sypris Solutions and as President of its subsidiary, Sypris Electronics, since March 2008. Sypris is a long standing leader in Cryptography and high assurance (Type 1) systems.

Walsh is a former leader in the Missile Defense Initiative and renowned expert in lean engineering and Six-Sigma. He has transformed the Sypris mission focusing on securing our nations networks, critical infrastructure, aircraft, and military systems introducing disruptive technologies for: Cyber Defense Network Assurance (Cyber DNA), High Assurance Controls Systems, Trusted Analysis/Analytics, and Trusted Design /Manufacturing Supply Chain Risk Management. Teaming with the best innovation from Silicon Valley and Centers of Academic Excellence, Sypris launched advanced products and services in Security to the edge incorporating COMSEC Type I and Crypto Key Management expertise for end point attribute based Identity/Asset Authentication. Walsh led the development of the Sypris Cyber Range, one of the cores to its leap ahead cyber solutions, test bed and services. The company is a pioneer in developing methods for securing the cyber "last mile" developing High Assurance Cyber Systems for the military and critical infrastructure. The company is managed from its base of operations in Tampa, Florida.

Prior to joining Sypris, Walsh served as President of Ducommun Technologies, Incorporated where he grew the company organically and through acquisitions in the areas of Homeland Security, defense electronics, missile defense, space, DOD, DOE, NASA, and telecommunications. Prior to Ducommun, he was the COO for Special Devices, Inc. (SDI) where he transformed the company into a world-class manufacturing operation and a leading manufacturer of automotive pyrotechnic safety components in North America, Europe and Asia.

Before SDI, Walsh was the Director of Ensign-Bickford (EB) Company's Aerospace and Defense Group, reporting to the CEO. During his tenure, he restructured the business resulting in increased revenues and profits in excess of 350 percent. Before EB, he worked at ATK where he led the company's efforts in response to President Reagan's Strategic Defense Initiative, innovating new technologies in solid propellant control systems changing the Government's acquisition strategy leading to the development and deployment of the SM3 Blk IV Navy Aegis Upper Tier System.

Walsh has received awards from President G.H. Bush, Prime Minister M. Thatcher, Missile Defense Agency, ATK for outstanding technical achievements. He holds patents/pending in aerospace weapons, automotive safety, commercial mining, and identity authentication.

He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University's School of Aeronautics and Astronautics and his MBA from St. Joseph's University, graduating first in his class. He is certified as a Director by UCLA's Anderson School Directors Program and is a member of Purdue University's Engineering and, the University of California-Irvine's Paul Merage Business School, Advisory Boards.
