Why did you choose Aeronautics and Astronautics?
Ever since I was a kid, I've been interested in how machines work. Building with LEGOs sparking my initial interest and watching movies with futuristic engineering furthered my curiosity. AAE allows me to integrate these ideas in a field which relies on creativity and ingenuity for the development of spacecraft and aircraft.

Best event or organization you’ve participated in within AAE?
The Charles Rolls and Henry Royce Memorial Lecture Series presented by Mark Thomas. The presentation was incredible and highlighted to me the different aspects of the AAE industry with regards to business and engineering. Several of the AAE faculty had attended the talk as well, so it was great to get their perspectives as well.

Best event or organization you’ve participated in outside of AAE?
The Honors College Racing Crew (HCRC) has been a great way for me to apply my engineering skills outside of AAE. Translating the theory I've learned in class to a complex, mechanical system is extremely rewarding. Plus, Grand Prix week is a great time on campus!

Why did you want to be an AAE Ambassador?
Mentorship has contributed to a large part of my time at Purdue, and I wanted to continue this trend into my senior year. The AAE program has provided me with numerous opportunities, both professional and academic. Serving as an Ambassador allows me to highlight these benefits to new and prospective students and demonstrate the strong AAE program at Purdue.

Favorite place on campus?
Hicks Undergraduate Library. It's a great place to study and I love the underground layout!

Favorite class you’ve taken thus far and why?
AAE 334, Aerodynamics. It was the first time I felt I had a comprehensive understanding of AAE, which was further developed by my amazing professor and the TAs.

What is one piece of advice you would give to a potential AAE student?
Don't hesitate to ask questions or go to office hours if you're struggling with concepts in lecture. AAE is challenging and reaching out when you need help is perfectly natural so that you can clarify any misunderstandings.

Who is someone you look up to in the Aero/Astro industry and why?
Kelly Johnson for his time at Skunk Works and the principles of his teamwork which led to the creation of the SR-71 Blackbird and U-2. As someone who focuses on aerospace systems engineering and design, his innovate approaches to aircraft development is inspirational.

What motivates you to succeed?
The feeling of finally understanding a concept or having a code/device finally work is my primary driver. AAE is a program where a lot of concepts can initially appear overwhelming, but once you understand them, you won't want to stop exploring and learning more about them!

What is your ultimate career goal?
I would love to design and develop drones for an array of industries and applications. I spent one of my internships working on spray drones for agricultural purposes and it really highlighted to me the range and breadth of applications of AAE.

What do you like to do when you’re not studying/in the lab or classroom?
Outside of spending time with my friends, I love to cook and bake. Whenever I get some time, I'll take the chance to make myself a quality meal to decompress and relieve some stress at the end of the day.;
