Why did you choose Aeronautics and Astronautics?
I chose Aeronautics and Astronautics because I have always had a curious interest in almost everything that flies. My family always lived near an airport therefore, every time I looked up at the sky I saw an aircraft. Attending air shows added to this interest after seeing the amazing capabilities of modern aircrafts.

Best event or organization you’ve participated in within AAE?
The best event I have participated in would have to be the AAE student kickback hosted by AAESAC. I enjoyed getting to know my peers better and making connections in friendly environment.

Best event or organization you’ve participated in outside of AAE?
Outside of AAE, the best organization I have been a part of is the Sikh Student Association at Purdue. The organization focuses on learning more about the Sikh faith and incorporating the Punjabi diaspora in several events. This is a way I stay connected to my cultural heritage and roots while on campus.

Why did you want to be an AAE Ambassador?
I wanted to be an AAE Ambassador because I believe I can answer tough questions that families and prospective students might have during the college selection process. I have had some tough experiences in my AAE journey and have learned a lot from mistakes as well. My goal is to be open and share the realities that often get overlooked in an effort to better prepare students.

Favorite place on campus?
My favorite place on campus would have to be the Armstrong Hall of Engineering (unbiased of course). The place offers several study spots, posters for inspiration, and even a coffee shop in the basement!

Favorite class you’ve taken thus far and why?
My favorite class so far has been AAE 251 which was taught my Professor Cunningham. It was my first taste of Aerospace Design and I enjoyed the process of coming up with a unique design which truly tested my knowledge of engineering principles.

What is one piece of advice you would give to a potential AAE student?
I would say attack everyday as if you were a sponge in a filled up sink. If you make it into the AAE program, chances are that you are already a very bright student. However, it is crucial to take a humble approach to your classes because you will retain a lot of information and oftentimes realize you didn't know as much as you think.

Who is someone you look up to in the Aero/Astro industry and why?
Someone I look up to in the Aero/Astro industry is Hashim Hassan who was actually my former AAE203 professor. I really enjoyed the approach Professor Hassan took in the class and it offered a new persective on learning in general. The principles he goes about doing his work with are well balanced and something I wish to take with me on my own AAE journey.

What motivates you to succeed?
What motivates me is waking up everyday and knowing that I have an opportunity to do something great or at the very least, be a part of something great. Purdue is the perfect place to be for this type of environment and I am grateful for the opportunities I get every day.

What is your ultimate career goal?
My ultimate career goal would be to extend technological knowledge and STEM opportunities to students in underprivileged/impoverished areas in an effort to shorten the digital divide in the world. This would open doors for bright students who  would not have known of their own brilliance otherwise.

What do you like to do when you’re not studying/in the lab or classroom?
When I am not busy being a student, I enjoy weightlifting, playing basketball, and playing chess. I also love listening to music!
