Project Title: Carbon Nanotubes in Thin Film Adhesives
Advisor: Prof. R. Byron Pipes

Introduction

The purpose of this project is to increase the thermal conductivity of adhesives. This is to be attempted by inserting carbon nanotubes into the adhesive and alligning them through the thickness.

Project Objectives

Create a thin film adhesive that will have better thermal conductivity through its thickness.

Integrate carbon nanotubes into an adhesive for its thermal properties.

Approach

There are a number of disciplines that need a more thermal conductive adhesive. Nobody has attempted putting nanotubes into an adhesive to try and aid in all of these problems. So far there have been few solutions presented but the need for such a material is only increasing.

Findings

There have been a number of setbacks in my journey towards finding results. Due to which there have been no completed tests performed. This project is scheduled to continue into the coming school year.
