Materials Engineering Professional Master’s Program (MSE PMP)

The PMP is a 1-1.5 calendar year, residential (on-campus) program that includes rigorous coursework in both materials engineering areas and electives designed to build professional skills complimentary to materials science and engineering areas and prepare students for successful careers in the industry.

Program Requirements

In alignment with the mission of PMP, program curriculum balances rigor and agility.

*Note-A 400-level course will need to be approved by the PMP Program Director.

  1. Program Duration: Complete the program in 3 semesters (or 12 months if enrolled in the summer program).
  2. Credit Hours: Successfully complete 30 credit hours, comprising six, 3-credit Material Science and Engineering focused courses and four 3-credit elective courses.
  3. Course Level: All courses will need to be a 500 or 600-level course, except for one 400-level course.
  4. Practical Experience (Optional): We strongly encourage students to seek co-op and internship opportunities to gain hands-on experience in the field. Actively participating in networking events on campus and investing time in building your personal network is crucial for your professional growth.
