Surface Area and Porosity
Material surface area and porosity can be measured based on physical adsorption of gas on a solid surface based on the Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) theory. Non-corrosive gases (e.g. N2) are adsorbed into a specimen and based upon the subsequent weight change, detailed surface area and porosity can be derived.
