Casting Center
The Purdue Center for Metal Casting Research (PCMC) is the focal point of research in the science and engineering of solidification processing. The goal of the center is to perform fundamental research in solidification science while working with industry to advance commercial metal casting practices and develop new commercial solidification processes.
Models for funding casting related research projects
- Industry specific consortia for precompetitive research
- Industry partnering on state and federal grants
- Sponsored research for specific industry projects
The mission and vision of the center are to produce technologically relevant solidification science and graduates who have unique research experience with industrial context. The span of research and development will support broad industry needs in four thrust areas: lightweight shape castings, solidification processing of wrought alloys, investment casting, and specialty alloys and processes.
