Dave Bahr, Head of the School of Materials Engineering, received the Alexander R. Scott Distinguished Service Award from TMS at the 2024 TMS Annual meeting. Dr. Bahr’s served as a technical committee chair, on the TMS Board of Directors, and (most importantly to him) has been a representative for TMS to the Material Advantage student program from it’s founding (when ASM International, TMS, and ACerS initiated a umbrella effort for MSE student professional membership, and now also includes AIST) 20 years ago.  Thanks to Jonathan Madison for the picture of Dave receiving the award from 2023 TMS President Brad Boyce.  Purdue has a strong track record of service to TMS; this award was last won by a Purdue faculty member in 1999 when School Head Gerry Liedl received the service award from TMS, and a Purdue alum in 2018 when Prof. Tresa Pollack won the award.
