Researchers mimic the animal kingdom’s most basic signs of intelligence in quantum material

The generation of high harmonics from metals opens a link between solid and plasma harmonics. High-harmonic generation (HHG) is the field of creating high-frequency photons from low-frequency lasers. HHG is the cornerstone of nonlinear optics, with applications in spectroscopy, attosecond science and so on.

Stanley Chan, Elmore Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University’s Elmore Family School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, has been awarded a $500K single-PI grant from the National Science Foundation under the Robust Intelligence core program.
