The article "Adaptive Bilateral Filter for Sharpness Enhancement and Noise Removal," by Buyue Zhang and Jan Allebach that appeared in the May 2008 issue of the IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, was one of four journal papers published by the IEEE Signal Processing Society (excluding IEEE Signal Processing Magazine articles) that ranked among the top 100 monthly downloads of all content from IEEE Xplore for at least two months during the six month period from April 2008 to September 2008.

Yuri Kubo, a graduate student in the School of Electrical & Computer Engineering, is the 2009-10 academic year winner of a $10,000 Astronaut Foundation Scholarship. Yuri was one of two students nominated from Purdue for prestigious award, and the only winner from Purdue.

ECE students Dustin Mitchell, Clement Lan, and Kuan-Po Chen were part of Purdue's IEEE ROV team competing on June 25th in the world's largest ROV competition. They placed 5th in a field of over 340 teams, and were the only rookie team to place in the top 10.

Purdue Research Park officials dedicated a 105,000-square-foot technology center in honor of Heddy Kurz and her late husband, Herman Kurz, an Electrical Engineering alumnus.
