ECE students win student design competitions awards at IEEE IMS 2014

Two groups of ECE students won awards in student design competitions organized in the IEEE International Microwave Symposium (IMS) 2014. This is the premier conference in the RF/Microwave research area and is attended by over 10,000 researchers and industry exhibitors every year.

ECE Students win Student Paper Awards at IEEE IMS 2014

Eric Naglich and Zhengan (Andy) Yang have won the 2nd place and 3rd place awards, respectively, in the student paper competition in the IEEE International Microwave Symposium (IMS) 2014. This is the premier conference in the RF/Microwave research area and is attended by over 10,000 researchers and industry exhibitors every year. Over 300 student papers submitted in the conference were eligible for the student paper competition.

ECE students win YouTube/YouKu Video Competition

Wesley Allen and Andrew Kovacs won the 1st place award in the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques (MTT) society YouTube/YouKu Video Competition. This is an annual competition organized by the MTT society. Its objective is to provide an opportunity for students to showcase their most impressive, instructive, and captivating microwave-related laboratory demonstrations.

Smartphone adapted to measure person's gait, reduce falls

ECE Researchers have shown how to modify a smartphone so that it can be used to measure a person's walking gait to prevent falls in people with compromised balance, such as the elderly or those with Parkinson's disease.
