ECE 39595 - Applications of ECE Through Reverse Engineering

Course Details

Lab Hours: 3 Credits: 1

Counts as:

  • EE Elective
  • CMPE Complementary Selective

Experimental Course Offered:

Fall 2024

Campus/Online:

On-campus only

Requisites:

ECE 20001 and ECE 20007

Catalog Description:

This course provides students an opportunity to understand how commercial products are designed and manufactured through deconstruction and analysis. Students will compare similar products from multiple manufacturers to see how different design strategies and approaches affect cost and efficiency. Students will then use these experiences to both theorize and implement potential improvements to their chosen products.

Required Text(s):

None.

Recommended Text(s):

  1. Practical Electronics for Inventors , 4 Edition , Paul Scherz, Simon Monk , McGraww Hill , March 2016 , ISBN No. 1259587541

Learning Outcomes:

A student who successfully fulfills the course requirements will have demonstrated:
  1. an ability to competently select, use, and automate electronic measurement instruments. [1,6]
  2. an ability to design, wire, and troubleshoot electronic circuits. [1,6]
  3. an ability to simulate electronic circuits. [1,6]
  4. an ability keep a laboratory notebook and prepare a formal laboratory report. [3]
