I was accepted to multiple schools, but overall the positive feedback I received from alumni, the affordable cost, and ultimately the variety of courses offered made Purdue the best choice.

Where do you work and what is your title?

Principle Software Engineer, Northrop Grumman

What is your area of interest within ECE?

Communication, Networking, Signal and Image Processing (CNSIP)

Why did you choose Purdue for your MSECE?

I first heard of the program through my mentor, who connected me with someone who had completed the program. I was accepted to multiple schools, but overall the positive feedback I received from alumni, the affordable cost, and ultimately the variety of courses offered made Purdue the best choice.

What do you like about the program?

I liked the wide range of courses offered and not being limited to only those offered by the department. I took three non-ECE courses (Intro to Satellite Navigation and Positioning, Biomedical Signal Processing, Intro to Remote Sensing) that were still relevant to my area of interest and greatly supplemented what I was learning through the other courses.

How will earning the MSECE help you reach your career goals?

I started this program to broaden my knowledge base which I hoped would help me decide what came next in my career. Since starting the program, I did change positions, and the ability to take non-ECE courses as part of the program allowed me to learn more about satellites, which was directly relevant to my new position.

What advice would you give to a prospective student interested in the online MSECE?

I didn’t have a specific goal when I started my masters, I actually wanted to find a goal by being in the program. For any prospective student that just wants to figure out what to do with their career, this program is flexible and offers enough courses to either focus on a specific area or just try different fields. Both will be valuable either way!
