Northrop Grumman Corporation - Future Technical Leaders Program
Position Type: | Research |
---|---|
Priority: | No |
Degree Requirement: | MS, PhD, Post Doctorate |
My name is Cliff Frieler and I have been a recruiter for Northrop Grumman for a
decade now, but just recently got the opportunity to come to Purdue. The small
program I interview for is called the "Future Technical Leaders" or FTL program.
It is a three year rotational program for top MS and PhD new-hires from a select
group of universities who are interested in seeing the range of product lines,
business areas and customer groups a large company like Northrop Grumman
engages. In October, we will invite roughly 50 candidates from across the country
to an interview week in San Diego, and I would like to make sure that the best
from Purdue are included.
We are interested in students in any of the physical sciences, math or engineering
disciplines, as FTL program participants are involved in projects throughout the
company. In addition to CyberSecurity work for several customers, we have projects
that would interest students in BioInformatics, many projects in large data analytics
and a research group pursuing Neuromorphic computing in SoCal. And, of course,
there are the better known business areas, such as satellite sensing systems, UAVs,
Army vehicles and Naval network and communications, and a very large manned
aircraft program we won last year, which employ the gamut of science and
engineering practices.
Notwithstanding this broad range of directly applicable skills, the FTL program is a
strategic hiring program and we hire the intellect, not the specific skill set. We are
looking for sharp, inquisitive minds with a deep technical background, ready to
broaden themselves and their perspective, particularly those with demonstrated
leadership capability.

There are a few requirements to be considered;
U.S. Citizenship
MS or PhD graduating by June 2017.
3.5/4.0 GPA, both UG and Grad.
Although I presented the Info Session last Thursday, I would still invite qualified
candidates to contact me directly, and I would be happy to explain the program
and answer questions. Please send an electronic resume or CV to the email address
below. I am on campus for the remainder of the week, and a rapid response might
mean we could get together for an interview immediately. In any case, applications
to the program require letters of reference be submitted in September, so if you
are interested contact me ASAP for details and forms.
Best of Luck in the remainder of your academic career, and in your Career Search!
