Mental Health in STEM

We are a group of researchers at the University of Massachusetts Boston conducting a nationwide study designed to examine the state of mental health among doctoral students in STEM.

Mental health and wellness are key to doctoral students’ success. However, a myriad of factors, including disruptions from the pandemic, have increased, and compounded graduate student stress. So, we are currently conducting a 35-minute online study to: 1) understand the current state of mental health among doctoral students in STEM, and 2) gain insights about the influential factors that affect students’ mental health.

We invite doctoral students in STEM who meet the following criteria to participate in this 35-minute online survey:

  • Current doctoral student
  • Enrolled in a STEM discipline
  • 18 years or older
  • We encourage students who hold racially/ethnically minoritized identities to participate.
If you are interested in participating in this survey, please click the link below.

This study has been funded by the National Science Foundation (# 2048018) and approved by the University of Massachusetts Boston Institutional Review Board (protocol #2021037).

We would greatly appreciate you sharing this recruitment letter and flyer with anyone you know who meets the study criteria.

If you have any questions about the research study, please feel free to email us at statusofmentalhealthinSTEM@gmail.com.
