Kinam Park Named Showalter Distinguished Professor of Biomedical Engineering

The Purdue University Board of Trustees, meeting at Purdue Calumet on Friday, September 29, approved the appointment of Kinam Park as Purdue's Showalter Distinguished Professor of Biomedical Engineering. The appointment was made based on Park's academic achievements, which have been internationally recognized, and his unique contributions to the university through his scholarship, research, teaching and leadership functions.

Prof. Bashir's "Nanocantilevers" Research Showcased by National Academy of Sciences

Recent work by Professors Rashid Bashir and Michael Ladisch, and Demir Akin of Weldon BME with fellow researchers Amit K. Gupta (Harvard University), Pradeep R. Nair (Purdue ECE), Steven Broyles (Purdue Biochemistry) and Muhammad A. Alam (Purdue ECE) has appeared in the online proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

Purdue honors bioengineer with surprise tribute

Colleagues and former students gathered at Purdue University on Friday (Sept. 22) to share stories and testimonials about biomedical engineer Leslie Geddes, whose research has spawned innovations ranging from burn treatments to miniature defibrillators, ligament repair to tiny blood pressure monitors for premature infants.

Friday September 22 is upon us. The time to RSVP for the luncheon and reception have passed, and now is the time to attend the dedication of the new home of the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering and a tribute to the man who truly is the heart of biomedical engineering at Purdue: Dr. Leslie A Geddes.
