Student Showcase features accomplishments of Biomedical Engineering undergrads

The Purdue Chapter of Alpha Eta Mu Beta, the national biomedical engineering honor society, presented their first annual 2022 Undergraduate BME Student Showcase on September 21. Underclassmen learned about the variety of opportunities available to BME students and how to get involved. Upperclassmen, graduate students, faculty, and staff were also invited to learn about the experiences and accomplishments of our talented undergraduate students.

The Weldon School is pleased to welcome three new faculty members who began in 2022. Taimoor Qazi, Steven Steinhubl and Matt Ward join 33 additional new faculty hires from the College of Engineering.

Purdue and Oak Ridge National Laboratory Team wins Truth CT Reconstruction Grand Challenge

A multidisciplinary team of researchers from the US Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) and Purdue University won the Truth CT Reconstruction Grand Challenge, which was organized by the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM). The team’s win was announced at the 2022 AAPM Annual Meeting in Washington, DC, in July.

Cracking the viral code

Elsje Pienaar, assistant professor in the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering, is developing computational models across multiple time and spatial scales, designing new methods of analysis and testing model predictions experimentally by using a mini-genome replica of the Ebola infection.
