Professor Edward J. Delp received an honorary doctorate from the Tampere University of Technology
during a ceremony held in Finland on May 17, 2002. The citation read "In recognition of your scientific
work in the field of signal and image processing and your merits in the development of multimedia
systems and the secure data communications they require. You have also been engaged in long-term
cooperation with our university and forwarded its activities within the international research
community.

Professor Delp is spending the summer as a visiting professor at the Tampere International Center for
Signal Processing at Tampere University of Technology in Finland.
