Professor Nicholas Peppas President-Elect of the Society for Biomaterials

Professor Nicholas Peppas was elected President-Elect of the Society for Biomaterials for the period of
April 2002 to April 2003. He will become President of the Society for 2003-2004. The Society for
Biomaterials is a professional society of more than 2400 members. The Society promotes advances in
all phases of materials research and development by encouragement of cooperative educational
programs, clinical applications, and professional standards in the biomaterials field.



Dr. Peppas has been active in the Society since 1974. He is currently a Fellow of the Society and
received the 1992 Clemson Award for Basic Research. Previously, he has served as Chair and
Vice-Chair of the Drug Delivery Division, Program Chair of the Ophthalmic Biomaterials Division, a
member of the Nominations and Award Committee, and Secretary of the Executive Committee of
Fellows of the Society.
