Safe Pace Team Wins Purdue Elevator Pitch
Weldon students won the undergraduate division at the Purdue University Elevator Pitch Competition on April 5. Their concept, called Safe Pace, is a device that would help surgeons check a pacemaker implant during surgery to determine whether it was mechanically stable.

Kyle Pendergast Named Purdue Student Government President
Congratulations to Kyle Pendergast, a junior in the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering. Pendergast was elected president of the Purdue student government for the 2013-3014 academic year.

Weldon Students Recognized by National Collegiate Inventors and Innovators Alliance
Biomedical engineering students from Purdue University are being recognized for developing the concept for a new type of diagnostic technology to help people suffering from peripheral neuropathy.

Rucha Joshi Wins Best Poster Presentation Award
Congratulations to Weldon graduate student Rucha Joshi. Rucha presented a poster at the Society for Biomaterials- Biomaterials Day conference March 15, 2013, at Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee, and won the award for best poster presentation (graduate and undergraduate). The poster was entitled, "Effect of Intermolecular Collagen Cross-link Content on matrix degradation," and was co-authored by fellow graduate student Tyler S. Smith and Dr. Sherry L. Voytik-Harbin, associate professor of biomedical engineering.
