Craig Goergen Named Fellow of the Biomedical Engineering Society

Craig Goergen is a Leslie A. Geddes Professor of Biomedical Engineering
Craig Goergen has been awarded the prestigious title of Fellow of the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES), an honor reserved for individuals who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in the field of biomedical engineering.

Goergen’s pioneering work in 4D ultrasound, which captures dynamic three-dimensional images of the heart, along with his biomechanics-inspired imaging techniques to quantify cardiovascular function, has significantly advanced disease diagnostics and treatment planning.

The BMES Grade of Fellow is a professional distinction granted by the Board of Directors to members who have made impactful contributions to biomedical engineering. Fellows are recognized for their substantial leadership within the field and their service within BMES, marking them as respected leaders in their areas of expertise.

Each year, BMES members with exceptional contributions to the biomedical engineering field are eligible for this honor. Following a rigorous review process conducted by the Fellows Nominating Committee, recommended candidates are presented to the Board of Directors for final approval.

Goergen is the second individual from Purdue University's Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering to receive this distinguished recognition.
