BME Students Explore Medical Imaging and French Culture During Maymester Abroad
In Paris, students visited Sorbonne University, where they saw a super-resolution ultrasound demonstration. PhD students led a tour of lab facilities, showing them innovative biomedical research up close.
The journey continued in Lyon, where students attended seminars at the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées. Topics covered 3D modeling of the mitral valve and digital twins using MRI--providing students with valuable insights into medical imaging technologies.
In Montpellier, students participated in research discussions at L'Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Médicale (INSERM). The sessions covered a variety of biomedical topics, including cardiac biomechanics and brain injury analysis.
Cultural immersion was also a highlight, with students exploring iconic sites like Notre Dame, the Louvre and the medieval town of Carcassonne. These experiences deepened their understanding of French history and how it connects with science and innovation.
