Parida and Sangha win Joe Bourland Travel Awards

Satyabrata Parida and Gurneet Sangha, both Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering PhD students, have been awarded Joe Bourland Travel Grants. Dr. Joe Bourland established this competitive award to graduate students in need of funds to support their travel to a conference as part of their graduate studies.

Parida will attend the Association for Research in Otolaryngology conference, February 10-14, 2018. Sangha will attend the SPIE Photonics West conference, January 27-31, 2018.

Students benefit tremendously from attending conferences and presenting their work to peers and experts in their field.  Conferences also present an ideal networking opportunity for students to explore research collaborations, potential employment and broaden their knowledge base.

Dr. Bourland was one of the "Fab 4" to come to Purdue from Baylor University in 1974 (along with Dr. Les Geddes, Dr. Willis Tacker, and Dr. Charles Babbs) to form the Hillenbrand Biomedical Engineering Research Center that eventually became the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering.
