Parida and Sangha win Joe Bourland Travel Awards

Satyabrata Parida and Gurneet Sangha, both Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering PhD students, have been awarded Joe Bourland Travel Grants. Dr. Joe Bourland established this competitive award to graduate students in need of funds to support their travel to a conference as part of their graduate studies.

Purdue trustees approve named professorship for Irazoqui

Pedro Irazoqui, associate head for research and professor in the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering, was appointed the Reilly Professor of Biomedical Engineering during the Purdue Board of Trustees meeting on Friday (Dec. 8).

Cooper receives Eudoxia Girard Martin Memorial Staff Recognition Award

Kathryn "Kitty" Cooper, intra and extramural programs assistant in the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering, has received the 2017 Eudoxia Girard Martin Memorial Staff Recognition Award. Cooper received the award Tuesday (Dec. 5) during the Clerical and Service Staff Recognition Luncheon.

IU cancer patients to test Purdue smartphone app for anemia detection

A Purdue University-led team of researchers developing an anemia-detection application for mobile devices received funding from the Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute to evaluate the technology’s use in patients undergoing treatment for cancer.

Acuña and Nguyen awarded Ronald W. Dollens Graduate Scholarships

Andrea Acuña and Tran Nguyen, both PhD graduate students in Purdue’s Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering, were recipients of the Ronald W. Dollens Scholarship for 2017-2018. The scholarship is a joint award between the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering and the College of Pharmacy, and is awarded based on academic merit to deserving PhD students in these schools who are performing research in the areas of cardiovascular devices, implantable biomaterials design, drug-delivery systems, or biochemical sensors.

Puls and Sangha receive Geddes-Laufman-Greatbatch Awards

TJ Puls and Gurneet Sangha, both PhD candidates in the Purdue Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering, were selected as recipients of the 2015-16 and 2016-17 Geddes-Laufman-Greatbatch Awards, respectively. The annual award is presented to the outstanding student or post-doctoral fellow in biomedical engineering. The awards were announced at the annual Biomedical Engineering Graduate Student Association Fall Potluck and Speaker Exchange on Nov. 14.
