2008 Weldon Wagons Presented
Members of the second undergraduate class of the school delivered the wagons, which are assembled and decorated by each graduating class, last Thursday, May 22. The “Weldon Wagons” are designed to transport pediatric patients in a way that is fun and inviting – something important during what can often be an intimidating and scary time for children. Students in the class of 2007 began this tradition by delivering two wagons to the pediatrics unit at Home Hospital in Lafayette. The class of 2008 is continuing the program by bringing the wagons to Parkview.
"The wagons are a example of the dedication of each class to improving the health and welfare of everyone," states George Wodicka head of the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering. "Even before they graduate and start their professional lives in research, development, and education, the students work to make a difficult time for children – some of the most special patients -- better."
“We are pleased to receive this generous gift from Purdue University,” said Sue Ehinger, Chief Operating Officer, Parkview Hospital. “The wagons are a unique item that children will be able to enjoy. A special thank you to Purdue for their commitment to giving back to communities in our state.”
